10-8-25 Family Moments That Filled My Heart (and My Stomach)
This past week was one of those rare ones that felt like a perfect balance between chaos and joy. I had two full days with my boys, and each one reminded me why motherhood is equal parts comedy, patience, and magic.
On Sunday, I spent the entire day with Sterling. I had an open house and a long list of errands, so I sweetened the deal with donuts, and it worked. He was a total champ all day, so I surprised him at the end with something he’s been begging to do every single time we go to Colorado Mills Mall, the bungee jump bounce thing. Normally, I say no because, honestly, paying fifteen dollars for four minutes of bouncing hurts my soul a little. But this time, I told him if he wanted to do it, he had to go all in and attempt a flip. And he did it, not just one, but two flips, right before time ran out. You could see the pride in his face, and I felt so happy for him. It’s funny how a small victory like a perfect flip can light up an entire day.
And since we were on a roll, I treated myself to a thirty-minute massage while we were at the mall. Sterling got his flips, and I got my sanity. Win-win.
Then on Tuesday, it was Bridger’s turn. He competed in his first DECA event in Fort Collins, which is a business and marketing competition. We had to leave before the sun came up, and the car ride was quiet. He was nervous, and I was trying to pretend I wasn’t tired. Once we arrived, I realized I was the only mom sticking around, so I asked if he wanted me there or if I should give him space. He said, “I always want you around, Mom. I’m never embarrassed to walk with you.” Cue the instant lump in my throat.
Between events, we went to Snooze for breakfast, reviewed his presentation, and later played the Catan Dice game we bought from a local shop while we waited for awards. Even though he didn’t place this time, he faced his nerves and gave it everything he had. That’s a win in my book. Somewhere between our business talk, laughter, and me gagging at one of his teenage-boy conversations (I’ll spare you the details), I realized how special these little moments are.
Oh, and because apparently I have no self-control when it comes to sugar, we also found a cookie shop in Fort Collins that sold cookies literally the size of your head. We walked out with an embarrassing number of them, and I regret nothing. They were worth every crumb.
We laughed, connected, and learned from each other. That’s the good stuff.
And as a little cherry on top of an already wonderful week, my mom booked her tickets for Thanksgiving and Bridger’s fifteenth birthday. My heart feels full just thinking about it.
Life in Real Estate: Connection, Community, and Closings
In my real estate world, this week has been full speed ahead with three closings happening. There’s a unique mix of adrenaline and gratitude that comes with that kind of week. Each closing represents not just a transaction but a family or individual starting a new chapter, and that never gets old.
Even with the busyness, I’ve been reflecting a lot on community and how important it is to stay connected. That’s one of the reasons I’m so excited about my upcoming pie giveaway event. It’s one of my favorite ways to say thank you to clients and friends who make this business so meaningful.
I also signed up for BOLD, an intense mindset and productivity course that runs all day every Tuesday for six weeks. I missed the first session to spend the day with Bridger, but I’ll be back next week, ready to dive in. I love the challenge of learning, pushing limits, and improving both personally and professionally.
And since I apparently don’t know how to sit still, I’m also toying with the idea of decorating my truck for Sterling’s school trunk-or-treat. I could really use some creative suggestions! Should I go for something spooky or funny? Maybe both?
