Personal Life: Cabo Calm, Costco Cuisine, and a Broken Buggy

This past week, Tag and I snuck away to Cabo for a friend/client’s wedding, and wow, we needed it. Just sitting on the patio in the warm breeze, decompressing from the daily grind, was everything I didn’t know I was craving. There’s something about salty air and not checking emails every 15 minutes that resets the soul.

The wedding was a dream. On Friday, the couple hosted a pre-party at a ranch with a full-on horse show, and the next day, they tied the knot on a boat in the Cabo harbor. The bride looked stunning, the groom was glowing, and the whole evening was filled with joy and ocean views. The vibe was incredible, and I actually danced in front of other people.

We found a secluded beach that felt almost too good to be real and swam in wild, rolling waves like giddy teenagers. Then I got a little overzealous on an off-roading excursion and managed to kill the buggy’s engine. Oops. Luckily, the crew brought us a replacement, and we were back to bumping over dusty trails in no time.

We even made it through a timeshare pitch without signing anything. Growth! But of course, we still got the real estate itch and scoped out a few local neighborhoods. Because even on vacation, we’re us.

Getting home was a bit of a travel gamble. I was flying standby with 8 people vying for 6 open seats, and I was dead last on the list. By all accounts, I should’ve been out of luck. But as I approached the gate agent to ask about our options, she looked up, paused, and said, “Well, someone didn’t check in,” then handed me a boarding pass like it was no big deal. I didn’t breathe. I didn’t blink. I took the ticket, slid quietly into the boarding line, and tried to act like I belonged there. I’ve flown standby a lot — and let me tell you, it never goes down like that.

Tag flew in shortly after, and we met at the garage where we’d left the car. We were starving, so we made a quick detour to Costco because did you know they are open until 8:30 pm?! I thought it was a little ridiculous to go there just to eat, until we saw the guy leaving ahead of us doing the exact same thing. Apparently, it’s a thing. And honestly, it hit the spot.

Back home, the kids greeted us with all the energy we missed. We’re already dreaming of taking them back to the resort, Hacienda Encantada, which was beautiful and peaceful when they weren’t knocking on our door at 9 p.m. asking if we needed towels or warning us that Uber is illegal and we have to use their taxi service or shuttle. Still worth it. And FYI, Uber is NOT illegal in Mexico.

Real Estate Life: Dream Clients, Musical Flashbacks, and a Buyer-Friendly Market

While we were away, Adam kept things humming and helped one of our newest buyers get under contract on their dream first home. It was their first choice, and they got it for less than asking. These clients are organized, proactive, smart, and collaborative. Absolute dream team. I couldn’t be happier for them.

I also had a great Zoom with a referral client from Boston, a professor at Berklee College of Music. The second she mentioned Berklee, I was transported back to my college days. I used to hang out with a group of guys from there who were always playing music and creating magic in their little apartment in Back Bay. It was such a nostalgic moment, and I’m really looking forward to helping her and her partner make the move to Colorado.

Now for a quick market snapshot based on the week of June 11 to 17. Activity was a bit softer, as expected for Father’s Day weekend. New listings dipped slightly, pendings held relatively flat, and showing activity was down, but all still tracked higher than the same time last year. Buyers are active, just not in a rush.

Inventory is gradually increasing week over week, and while it’s still higher than last year, that year-over-year gap is narrowing. Sellers are making pricing adjustments earlier and more frequently, but the size of those reductions is shrinking, which tells me that listing strategies are improving.

Median days on market ticked up, and the average listing saw just over one showing per week. It’s not a frenzy, but if you’re a buyer planning to stay put for five years or more, this market is your friend.

And if you’re looking for something to do this Saturday, stop by Sharffer’s Crossing in Pine off 285 to get a list of the homes participating in our Neighborhood Garage sale! See you there!
