Life Lately: Umpire Style, Crane Schedules, and MMAR Magic

Bridger officially has his umpire uniform, and yes, it’s as adorable as you’re imagining. We were ready for his debut, but both of his first two games got canceled. So now we’ve got the look, just no games. Yet.

At the same time, he kicked off Fall ball with the high school baseball team and did great, except for one painful catch. His elbow has been hurting badly when he throws. He’s trying to stay upbeat, but I can tell he’s bummed. He keeps saying, “I hope I don’t need Tommy John surgery,” which I had to Google. Apparently, it’s a thing baseball players get. So, maybe let’s hope it’s just growing pains.

On the work front, Tag started a new crane job with a pretty intense schedule: two weeks on, one week off, 12-hour days, and a long commute. It’s not ideal. We won’t see much of him when he’s working, but then we get a whole week together, which is something to look forward to. Honestly, it makes you appreciate the slow mornings and shared cups of coffee even more when they happen.

Tuesday night was a highlight. The biggest MMAR event of the year took place, and Adam walked away with the Rookie Rockstar award. He’s been volunteering with multiple committees and really getting involved. It’s been cool to see him stepping into this chapter. What made the night extra special was the vibe. Celebrating agents who genuinely support one another in an industry that can often feel pretty cutthroat was refreshing and inspiring.

Later in the week, Tag and I got a rare night out. We blended business and pleasure with a twilight open house at one of my new Alma listings. Picture mountain views, crisp air, and sunset lighting that made the house practically glow. Afterward, we drove to Georgetown for dinner at Nozawa, our old sushi and hibachi favorite. Was it a little dirtier than I remembered? Yes. Was the food still delicious? Absolutely. And that’s really all that matters.

Then came Saturday and another open house, this time in Conifer. That home isn’t going to be listed for sale after all, but it’s still a win. The seller is under contract to buy another property, and by renting this one out, the lender gives the green light. It’s smart and flexible, two words you don’t always hear together in real estate, but this time it worked beautifully.

And since I’m posting this on September 11th, I can’t help but pause and reflect. I was a senior in high school when the towers fell, and I remember watching the news unfold from the basement of my dorm, completely stunned. It didn’t feel real. Everything just stopped, and the world suddenly felt unfamiliar. Every year, that memory comes rushing back, not only the shock and grief but also the way people pulled together in the aftermath. It's a reminder of how quickly life can shift and how deeply we’re all connected.

Real Estate Lately: Courthouses, Closings, and Curveballs

This week reminded me once again that real estate isn’t always keys and contracts. Sometimes it’s filing paperwork in a county probate court because your client lives out of state. That’s where I found myself, navigating the Denver County courthouse in heels and asking legal questions I never thought I’d need the answers to. But that’s the thing about this business. It keeps you sharp. Every day brings something new to learn, and that’s part of what I love most.

The rest of my deals are moving along nicely. A few closings are lined up, another listing may be going live this week, and all the puzzle pieces are clicking into place. It’s that sweet spot where the to-do list is long, but everything is moving forward.
